Representing a growing number of partners in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Lithuania, The Nordic-Baltic Sound Residency Network is an initiative across the Nordics and Baltics. The partners within the network all offer residency programmes, resulting in a diverse collection of partners ranging from education institutions, such as Inter Arts Center under Lund University; independent residency centers, like Rupert in Vilnius; and composers’ unions in Lithuania and Denmark.
All share the aim of offering professional artists a desirable research and work frame with technical equipment and facilities as well as network possibilities with other artists and local partners. Furthermore, knowledge exchange between and further education of staff is an active part of the network’s activities.
At the core of the network’s mission is the provision of an international environment where professional artists can thrive," says Sine Tofte Hannibal, general Manager of the Danish Composers’ Association. "Through access to state-of-the-art facilities, technical equipment, and extensive networking opportunities, the establishment of the network aims to empower and support sound artists across borders. And to give dedicated staff at the residencies possibilities of exchanging and gaining new knowledge related to their work.
Unlocking artistic potential through knowledge sharing
The Nordic-Baltic Sound Residency Network also shares a common interest in developing valuable methods and seminar formats for sharing knowledge about artistic research being done by artists exploring their artistic practice, on their own or in a collaboration with technically specialized staff at the centres.
Furthermore, the network collaborates on creating joint and relevant online seminars for professional artists in the Nordic and Baltic region, focused on different practice related subjects and with the aim of offering new networks, platforms, concrete tools, and sharing knowledge.
The network activities 2023–2025 are realized with support from the Nordic Culture Point.
